MF, AR, IM and PR in an EUDAMED SRN

An EUDAMED SRN encodes country, role, and digits. MF is the manufacturer, AR the authorised representative, IM the importer, and PR the pack producer.

The middle token of an SRN is the actor role, not a department code. The Commission’s actor-ID layout is a two-letter country, a role abbreviation, and nine digits. The same legal entity gets a different SRN for each role it registers. One company that both manufactures and imports does not share a single number across those jobs.

The four roles

  • MF — manufacturer. This is the SRN on a device record, such as AT-MF-000000252.
  • AR — authorised representative. A non-EU manufacturer names an AR in the Union. The AR verifies that manufacturer’s actor registration before the competent authority assesses it.
  • IM — importer. An importer can link to a non-EU manufacturer. That link is not the manufacturer’s own SRN.
  • PR — system or procedure pack producer. The producer of the pack, not automatically the manufacturer of every device inside it.

Authorised representatives and importers do not register UDI-DIs. Manufacturers and system or procedure pack producers do. If a spreadsheet labelled “SRN” holds an AR or IM code, a device search against it will not behave like a search against an MF code.

What the public page can show

A public actor page shows the name, the country, and the actor status when the register returns them, plus a page of devices that cite that manufacturer. It does not show the mandate document, the local actor administrator, or the people behind the account. Those stay in the actor workspace.

Watch the SRN whose role matches the question. An MF watch follows the manufacturer named on the devices you buy. An AR watch is a different organisation. Mixing them is how a tender ends up citing the representative as if they manufactured the device.

UdiWatch is not the actor module and not a competent authority. The SRN is issued by EUDAMED after the competent authority validates the registration.
