What is an SRN in EUDAMED?

An SRN is the Single Registration Number of an economic operator in EUDAMED. Manufacturer SRNs look like AT-MF-000000252.

An SRN is the Single Registration Number EUDAMED assigns to an economic operator, also called an actor. Manufacturers, authorised representatives, importers, and system or procedure pack producers each get one when their actor registration is accepted. It is not a device code. A company has an SRN. Each device model that company places on the market has its own UDI-DI.

How the number is shaped

A manufacturer SRN reads as country, role, and digits: AT-MF-000000252, CN-MF-000042120. The first token is the ISO country code. MF is the manufacturer role. Other roles use other middle tokens. If the code in front of you matches this pattern, you are looking at an actor, not a UDI-DI, even when both appear on the same technical documentation.

What a public SRN page contains

The public actor response can include the legal name, the country, and the actor status (active, and other states the register publishes). Under that SRN, the device search returns the UDI-DIs that name this manufacturer. The public API gives a page of devices and a total count. It does not dump the manufacturer’s entire catalogue in one call. A page that claims to list “all devices” from a single request is guessing past the first page.

Why you would watch the SRN instead of one UDI-DI

Watch a UDI-DI when the question is about one code on a label. Watch the SRN when the question is about the company: the registered name, whether the actor status moves, and whether the number of registered devices changes. UdiWatch compares those three on an SRN watch. It does not raise an alert for every new trade name inside the catalogue. If you care about one device, watch that UDI-DI.

Actor status is not the same thing as device market status. A manufacturer can stay active while one of its UDI-DIs moves to no longer on the market. Those are different fields, and they fail in different ways if you only check one of them before a tender.
